Corydoras trilineatus?

Hi!

New member here and fairly new to the hobby as well. After reading the info here I've come to the conclusion that what was sold to me as C. julii
most probably are C. trilineatus. Can anyone confrim this?


I currently have 9 of them together with 12 Hemigrammus erythrozonus (don't know the english name though), 3 Anomalochromis thomasi and 1 Ancistrus sp. in a 150 litre aquarium.

Almost every fish sold as "C. julii" is really "C. trilineatus". I'm sure yours are too.

If you look at the Cat-eLog entries for those fish, you'll see some explanation on the confusing naming in shops. In short: They come from quite different regions, and C. trilineatus is from a region that is frequently fished for the trade, while the origin of C. julii is not fished for aquatic trade.

Anyone selling C. julii would be sure to point out that they are REAL GENUINE C. julii, and thus be able to charge X times more for these.

Thanks for the answer Mats, and for confirming what I was thinking.

Since I am a beginner with corys, it doesn't matter to me if they are Julii or Trilineatus. I just bought some beautiful fishes.
