haha....yes newbie ...i wanted this catfish for an empty 55 gallon tank i have sitting at home...its going to be filled with plants and drift wood...i really just wanted a catfish that would only grow to be under 2 ft long but just the idea that this guy being not shy in all would look pretty neat to have...i dont mind that he has to be all alone...i just think it'll be awsome to have a catfish in there...

Right, assuming you can find one, and you manage to keep the fish alive long enough to grow to it's nominal size, you're looking at more like a 75g or 90g tank than a 55gf for that fish, and a 125g+ tank is probably more appropriate. A one foot fish, however docile, will not be suitable for a tank that is fractionally over 1 foot (13" if memory serves) from back to front.
Note also that the fish, at the size the Cat-eLog shows, will actually be LONGER than that in full length, because the Cat-eLog uses the scientific method of measuring "Standard Length", which doesn't include the tail-fin, so by the time the fish is nearly a foot long in SL, it will hit the back wall of a 55g with it's tail, when it nose hits the front wall. [Yes, I'm aware that fish can bend, but just like a 5ft person wouldn't want to sleep in a 5ft bed for any length of time (obviously OK for one or two nights), I don't think putting a 1ft fish in a 13" wide tank is a brilliant idea].
