. Water parameters
a) Temerature range. 75F
b) pH. ph without co2 is normally 7.5
c) GH. Fully planted tank. Haven't measured these but assume they're on the
d) KH low side because of added co2 (diy).
e)Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, leavels. amm and nitrites are 0 - not sure about
about nitrates but the tank is kept clean
and plants take up nitrates so....
f) Water change frequency I have a common plec in this tank so take out 6-9
gals. of water every 2-3 days because of the waste
he produces. Vaccum substrate while I do this.
2. Tank set up
a) Size. 55 gal
b) Substrate. gravel
c) Filtration. running 2 hob filters - 1 double and 1 small
d) Furnishings. lots of plants - cave - big rock - air stone
e) Other tank mates. guppies, pleco (6 inch with tail), harlequin rasboras (7)
bosmani rainbow (5 inch), 5 cory (4 paleautus albino and
1 peppered)
f) How long has it been set-up? 6 yrs.
3. Symptoms / Problem description 1 blister/pimple at base of barbel near
face. Sometimes goes red mostly same
colour as body. This spot has been
there for 3-4 weeks and hasn't spread on
this fish or to other fish. Barbel not
affected.
5. Medications used (if any) melafix was added to the water when the
spot became red. I stopped when it turned
body colour but would go back to red.
Added a bit of salt.
Otherwise the fish behaves normally. The only thing different with this female is she hasn't bred. I got 2 albinos which were fully grown and this was one of them so I have no idea how old they are.
Thanks in advance for any input.
