Isn't this the one that is known as Valentine Syno (or Synodontis valentine)? Unless I'm wrong I think we should stick to one name, especially with all the hybrids that pop up these days. One name per hybrid will certainly make things easier.

Looks exactly like what I have that I bought thinking it was a decorus. People here id'ed it as a Valentine Syno. I can't imagine there not being some decorus parentage in there.

The worst thing one can do is give them (unofficial) Latin names for that is certainly going to create a lot of confusion.
Imo a fish like this should be called something like Synodontis hybrid "valentine". I know this matter has been discussed before, but I am unaware of any results.

I did an article on the "zebrinus" hybrid, with a photo when juvenile, and one when adult. IMO it is not the "zebrinus" one (I also disagree with giving hybrids a name that sounds like it could be a scientific one, thats why I put zebrinus in quote marks). As you all say, looks like decorus and something else. I HATE HYBRIDS!!!!!

Do they get the hybrids on accident from having multi synos in one tank or do they try?

synos don't hybidise unless man interferes, even when multiple species are kept together.

The only possible exception (which has yet to be proven) might be multipunctatus & grandiops as they are so similar, when in the close confines of an aquarium.

I hope you don't think I was serious it was a poor try at humor I do not like these any more than you do...the hybrids have really confused things....telling some of these wild syno's apart is confusing enough

I always wondered. And I agree, at least he puts hybrid in the ad.
