I am looking to find out what the spatula part of the barbels on Phylonemus typus would be considered...would it be membrane or......????

I did a short search and found this. In the paper "Bagrid catfishes from Lake Tanganyika, with a key and descriptions of new taxa" by Baily & Stewart in 1984, the key states "Maxillary barbel with two strongly expanded distal flanges."
