number of hits

This ia a very small thing but I have noticed that the counter will add more than one hit when a person looks at an article...usually two sometimes more
at first it will show only one but it will add more
As much as I would like to see hits on articles I think they should be real hits

I'm not sure what behaviour you are seeing, but the article counter only adds one hit per view of the page. If you press reload or navigate away and back to the page, these will count as double.

Let me know what exaclty you are doing click by click?

If I click on Birger Kamprath by book reviews on the main page it will go to my list of articles with the associated counters(it does not add at this point)

If I click on the Brackish article as I did right now showed 440 hits

If I go to the main page by clicking home at the top then click on Birger Kamprath once again it will go to my list of articles and the counter in this case went to 443 hits(this is the point where it adds an extra 1or 2)

I did not think it was supposed to count when you go to the list of articles but I tried the same sequence with yann's article and it jumped this time 3 places
seems to happen only with this sequence now that I tried it different ways

Like I said this is a small thing
Kinda makes me look like all I do is check out at my own little bits I wrote but I noticed this showing family what I did

I tried it and it actually count the number of hit correctly, it is just maybe a matter of coincidence, probably several people getting a look at your article at the same time!!!
It is a big world, still already pretty crowded!!

Hi Birger,

I've re-checked the code and it only adds one to the counter in the right place. So the page must be getting accessed somehow. As Yann, says there is the possibility that another person (or 'bot) has made this happen, however other (clever) browsers or browser add-ons look ahead of the page you are on into pages you might visit by clicking on links on the current page and load those pages is anticipation of you clicking the links to speed up the page load if you do click the link. That's also a possibility.

Anyway, there isn't much I can do about it as the code is correct. It counts hits, not unique hits.
