very bad day

Post by BK »

all six of my L66 suddenly and quickly died yesterday :(. the water tested fine and they had all been doing good since they started eating 2 weeks ago and there was no external sign of disease or sickness or parasites. they were fed with a new container of food but thats the only new thing. Do you think it could have been the food? what else could it have been?

hmm... I knew someone that lost a tank of zebras from a cheapo food company's frozen bloodworms, some oil from the machinery leaked into it, made a slick on top of the water, killed his fish... But that's not real likely to happen, any toxins that could have entered the tank? bug sprays, disinfectant, things of that sort?

nope nothing got in the tank. the new shrimp pellets look differnet thanthe old ones and are of the same brand (wardleys). what ever got them killed them real fast too. i found some that died sucked to the glass. the flowers should be happy, they got some $140 fertilizer. they were some real nice fish too

Hmm. Sounds like the food. You should reconsider using Wardley. My experience is that their fish foods suck (I couldn't get any fish to eat them) and I trust them no further than I can throw the can.

I'm so sorry for your loss BK :( Had you done a water change recently? How long had the tank been up? When you say that the water tested ok, what parameters did you test? That's just such a bummer :(

What is bad about Wardley's food? I hope I'm not feeding my cories something bad!

The only bad thing about Wardley's food is that my fish refuse to touch it. So, I would rather pay a little more and get quality food.

For me the best wafer available are hikari wafers. Even my large pseudas feed on them.. nd this is algae wafers where talking about :) Tetra tabimin is also a good alternative.. :)
