Hi. Thanks to this site i now know I have bought aTachysurus fulvidraco catfish.
i got it from a general LFS and im sure it wasnt labled up as one but had some general name written on the front of the tank,not any that have been associated with this fish from research since (ie Tawny dragon etc) . They had it down as a black something or other??? But anyway now i have it I was hoping (as the LFS said!) that it is fine for a peaceful community tank. My female Gourami has already had part of her front fins nipped off and the jury is out whether the Catfish or the male Gourami is to blame (he doesnt like her and goes for her a lot). I have tried to get some background info but there isnt a lot about apart from this site. Im a bit thick
and didnt understand the measurement chart, not sure if it read 13"?? So as I am a complete newbie to fish keeping I would really like some advice on this particular fish as I am still in the early stages of building up my tank. I really wanted a pleco but I have already been told it wont get on with the catfish. I am hoping i can still have some tetras!! I already have 3 platys and 2 moonlight Gouramis. My tank is 180 litres. Planted with rock and bogwood. What I am really asking in essence is What fish can I now add to my tank? How large will the catfish grow? What is the best thing to feed them with? (At the moment I am just feeding Tetra pro colour and tetra min alternative days)Do i take the catfish back to the LFS and change it for an easier one
!!! Do they generally do that? I have only had my tank for 3 months and just over a month of that was spent fishless cycling. any help out there?
