Is this a striped raphael? The stripes are unusual.

The "fish guy" that my brother and I buy most of our fish from had four striped raphael catfish that had unusual markings. The lines went up to the head, but they seemed to fade out as they got to the skull area of the fish. Every other striped raphael I have seen has stripes that go up and over the fish's head and join. I have two of these guys, and my brother kept the other two. They are very nice looking fish, about three inches long.

I would also like to know if these fish will grow any larger than the usual striped raphaels I see.

Yes, I think Daves ID is right.

Consider submitting your photos to the Planetcatfish database, they're better than the present photos of O. eigenmanni.

@ Mike C: I can't see it very well on your pictures, but the most obvious difference is eye size. Platydoras has large eyes; Orinocodoras small ones. The Cat-eLog pictures provide sufficient material to determine your fish imo.
Beware: your fishes look as if they have been pushed around (torn fins) and very skinny for specimens of that size. So feed them well and keep a close watch.

I believe it is an Orinocodoras eigenmanni, based on the pictures and the description.

Marc,
You are right, when I first recieved this fish I put him in a tank where he was pushed around a bit. I am getting a new larger tank on Monday and hope to get him into a batter environment. They also look under fed based on those pictures so I will provide more food than I have been. I only received them a couple of weeks ago so they are still about the same size.

From an identification point of view, yes. The first picture is high quality, but extremely low-res, making it hard to see detail, while the bigger pictures are at weird angles or of partially obscured fish.
The OP's picture http://dragosani1.fortunecity.com/Fish/StripedR1.jpg is a bit blurry and noisy, but high resolution and shows all relevant detail.
