"Synodontis notatus" Image 16 of 16
Hello,
Re the new image of "Synodontis notatus" which is listed as "image 16 of 16". I would take this fish to be Synodontis congica, or Synodontis congicus as it is currently named on the site.

OK, 16 & 11 are from the same batch, so I've moved them. Revisiting this, do either of you also think that image 10 is also S. congica/us?

Re: "Synodontis notatus" image 10
Yes Jools,
I would consider image 10 under S. notata to actually represent S. congica.
As you can obviously see I have personally, after a number of discussions with various ichthyologists including Bill Eschmeyer, taken to the new species name endings of some of the Synodontis species as used in the Ferraris Checklist.

Hi Marc and MatsP,
Bill did accept all of the Synodontis species names endings as used in Ferraris. He did a survey around regarding the gender of the name and there was good agreement. I am sure that it will be confusing for a while. I have already started using any of the necessary changes in my column.

Hi MatsP,
A quick question: I am guessing that you are referencing only the entry on S. notata. Can I mention the following correction which is in need of a Cat-eLog fix here (or would you prefer a separate post)?
S. aff. multipunctatus [sic]
