Fishpix (ol' Blue Eyes), Canon G2 and tons of windowstrouble
Guys, I need your help, and I need it ASAP!
As many of you might know, I've got a very nice camera (Canon G2) and I posted a few catfishpics here and there.
Unfortunately the PC is crapping up on me in a MAJOR way, and so far, I'm unable to fix it.
I posted this question already on VatoElvis' hangout ( http://www.cichlid-forum.com ). But the explanations and hints of the people over there are WAY above my simple level....I cannot do anything with the advice given, because what they say is sheer gibberish to me. The few things they said that should be "simple" "easy" or "should work" do NOT work so far.
I've been directed to "drivers", "uninstalling" and "reinstalling" software and it all leads to zip.
Ok
THIS is the problem:
I got a G2, until recently I could, without problems, load its' contents in the "my pics" folder.
Until last week, when my PC refused to "see" the camera anymore....
checked out the USBcard-link, and indeed, the USB 'sees' all kinds of stuff EXCEPT the G2
As told already: the G2 and the cable are fine; the Macingtosh-laptop from a friend spotted the thing right away; pics and all.
I need this problem to be fixed in order to post (or contribute to the catElog) the pix of the Panaque suttonorum and many others.....

Plan B should not automatically be twice as much explosives as Plan A
Ok Sorry .It probably isnâ??t a IRQ problem ..
Have you tried uninstalling the other USB components ?
Also have you had the camera plugged in when you start PC up?

Here are the firmware updates for youâ??re camera but only do this as a last resort ,as a rule if it works donâ??t touch it .

Rusty, as you already know, I can't afford a Mac.
even a simple model costs twice as much as my monthly paycheck, and there's simple things like food, rent, electricity etc that need to be payed.
I was hoping for some serious help folks not this!!
My friend won't be able to upload the pics, he hasn't got that much spare time, not to mention the fact that camera pics are "raw" and WAAAYYY too big to post anywhere. they need to be selected, cropped and tweaked before I post them. not difficult, but time-consuming; and memory/harddisk space consuming too! his Laptop hasn't got 100GIG my PC does.
And all the software needed to re-edit/tweak/crop the pics is on my PC.

I'll buy one of those things, alright!
BUT I managed to fix the bug all by myself! and I'm quite proud, windoze being what it is, and all.
It took some time though:
-uninstalled all photo-software.
-shut down PC
-unplug all USB devices, including wireless optical mouse (!)
-start up PC, install software for mouse (it runs without it in the USb outlet. In the "mouse-outlet" it needs the software, and I need that mouse to fool around with the PC)
-uninstall the USBcard and drivers.
-restart PC
-reinstall USBcard and drivers
-re-startPC
-reinstall all photosoftware & check if USB is functioning properly.
-check for updates on Canon website (found out they're not needed; G2 is latest G2 model)
tataaaaa!!!! it works again.
But I'm still going to get a card reader, allright!
