I'd like to know if the I.D. of in the Baensch Atlas is correct, or if not, what it actually is. The photo shows a fish with a greenish olive colour, while the ones in the Cat-eLog are all silver.
The reason I ask is that, whatever species the Baensch pic portrays, I have a chance to buy, if I decide that I want one.

Re: Photo of Synodontis congicus in the Baensch Atlas
Hi Chrysichthys and all.
I am using the third English edition (first paperback edition) of the Baensch Atlas 2 which is dated 1997 for my comments on the fish you asked about. In that in my book there is a greenish tint that you mention to the fish called S. congicus on page 537 I am assuming that we are talking about the same picture. I have no problem calling the fish in this picture Synodontis notatus. There is a picture of the real S. congicus in the same volume on page 545 and it is incorrectly labeled as S. nummifer.
As a side note: if anyone is referencing a photo in one of the Baensch Atlases it is a good idea to make note of the year and edition used. This is because they do update pictures and identifications from time to time. Right off hand I am unsure if there is a more current printing of Baensch 2 available.

Lee,
I have the hardback English Second edition, supposedly printed in 1997, and page numbers and pictures appear to match your paperback edition.
