NEW fantasy football league for 08/09

Post by Jools »

All~

The new season is nearly upon us and I need to find someway to reduce my current beer debt to WhitePine. Aside from that, last years was good fun and so I hope many will join in. It's the same format as previous years but with a few twists. The site is MUCH better than the EURO2008 one which was, sadly, a little lacking.

You can register and change around your team as much as you like between now and the 16th of August. So get registering (you can even reuse your login from last year and all your saved details).

Details from the site:
This season's game is NOW OPEN and still FREE to enter!

As usual, you have the opportunity to make unlimited changes before the season kicks off on Saturday 16th August so why not enter a team and set up a private league for your friends and family now?

We've also made some improvements in order to make the world's most popular fantasy football game even better:

1. Head to Head Leagues
All players joining before Gameweek 1 will be placed in a head to head league which follows the real Premier League structure. Each Gameweek you will play a match against another team in the league, with a match result based on fantasy scores. Three points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw.

2. Enhanced player information window
We've improved the player information window so you can get quick and easy access to all the vital player stats.

3. Private league rankings shown on your team page
Your private league rankings will be shown together with your team name on your team page.

4. Ranking changes in private leagues
Icons provide an overview of who did well this gameweek in your private leagues.

5. Improved help integration
On pages where you select and manage your team you'll find a Help section at the bottom of the page.

Login OR register your team here: http://fantasy.premierleague.com

Once you're all set, the code for joining the private planetcatfish league is Code to join this league: 336798-73442.

For those of you unfamiliar with his capacities: pls include goal keeper Gomes (ex-PSV Eindhoven, now Tottenham Hotspurs). He's helped us a great deal in obtaining four Dutch championships in a row and will be dearly missed in Eindhoven.

I am entirely ignoring Barbie's comments about the complex game enjoyed by more or less one single country on this planet as opposed the the global beautiful game.

A goalkeeper will only score you plenty points if his defence is also good (or he's superman and makes millions of saves behind a leaky defence). So I'm not sure about spurs. Might not be a bad shout indeed if he is quite good.

Just a reminder that you all have until tomorrow morning (GMT) to either register a team, or check the one you've picked for last minute injuries and all that.

Good luck everyone - see you at the finish line!

Despite reading through the rules with my brain at least half-switched on I'm still not too clear on the scoring, so expect a respectable bottom-of-the-table position...

No worries, any questions please ask here if you wish. There are a few new rules for this season, but it's mostly down to keeping an eye on your team as the season progresses and swapping out injured or poorly performing players.

Last year I did pretty well 'til Man City's totally predictable late-season collapse. That and refusing to hire those ManU players did me in.

Well, I'm back. And, yet again, will prove a total fool by sticking to Man City and refusing ManU. But this year: DOMINATION. Especially if domination is liberally interpreted to mean "bottom half finish".

I considered an All American team ... but you can only have 3 players from Fulham

Victory! And with nary a trace of any of those accursed Red Devils all year ...

Predictions for next year: Manchester City Top 5 finish! And James' fantasy Prem team: bottom half finish. I can live with that in exchange for real European competition in 2011. :D
