Pond Catfish

Post by IndefactorX »

Would Blue Channel catfish get along ok with Koi in a 1000gallon pond?
about how many koi to catfish should i keep?

also, i have a blue channel cat that is not eating and is seeming to be very.. er.. stressed i think because he's mostly just drifting around the tank, but i dont see any signs of Ick or any other problems, what should i do to encourage him to eat more?
it is in the tank with another blue, they are each only 5 inches right now but the other one is eating **30 gallon tank

That would work only if the koi are at least the same size or preferably larger than the channel cat and as the blue channel cat grows to be over 150 cm that would have to be some pretty huge koi.

er.. I haven't actually had any channel cats of my own yet but as I see it, if a fish is smaller than a predator's mouth then it'll usually end up as dinner, lunch, and/or breakfast

There shouldn't be too much of a problem keeping them together if they are the same size right now. Don't think you can put more than one or two in your pond and still have room for many koi, though. These guys reach 50".
