Breeding C. Napoensis

Hi there,

I would like to start a topic about my wild caught C. Napoensis.
I have got a small group of 3 adults, 2 females and 1 male. They have spawned twice now. The first time failed after 3-4 days. I have got know idea why All the larvae died.

This time they spawned again. I have about 30 youngsters now. They look fine. I'm hoping on raising them this time. For hatching I used a little osmose water mixed whit water from the adults tank and still use it with the baby's now. I hope this will also help them survive.

If anyone has some tips on raising this species I would like to read about it

Well, I see that this will be my first up date since I started the topic.
A lot has happened after that first posting. I changed there water after the first failed spawning to rainwater. That seemed to do the trick. I've had 3 spawnings from these little guys. Sadly my breeding female died after the last spawning. Now I have only 1 male and 1 female and she has not laid any eggs since I've got her. Although she is bursting fat....no eggs yet.
But the good news is that I have got 12 little baby napoensis witch are doing fine I kept them on rain water mixed with some warm tap water and osmose water. They are eating fine and growing nicely. They started to get more colour now. Last weekend I placed them with the 2 adult ones I've got left. Now forming a group of 14. I hope they will keep doing fine and that I can expand my breeding group.

Sorry to heart about your loss Jacqueline. It sounds like you are recovering and can be congratulated on moving forward with the 14 juveniles. They will give your remaining adult female some new suitors that may interest her.
