C.axelrodi or CW021??

Post by siluriphil.de »

Hi,

over a year ago I bought some Corys as C.axelrodi from a famous breeder. He told me that these catfish are C.axelrodi and I believed that. But now someone told me that my cats are CW21. The difference between these two Fish are marginal in my eyes. And now I´m totally confused.

Can somebody identify ma Corys?

Hi Matthias-
I think you probably need Ian Fuller to post on the differences between CW021 and axelrodi (CW021 is identified as Corydoras cf. axelrodi, showing just how close they are- CW021 might be a regional variant of axelrodi, or might get identified as its own species, in the fullness of time.

I've got CW021 juveniles, and looking at your fish, my fish and the fish in the Catelog, the only thing that stands out is that the dark lines on CW021 look cleaner, and probably darker, but fish can alter thair colours so much I'd not put too much faith into that. Some of the pictures of axelrodi also have a few dark spots, but that doesn't appear to be 100% reliable either.

Summing up, I don't know!

Stu
Megalechis thoracata, Callichthys callichthys, Brochis splendens (and progeny), Corydoras sterbai, C. weitzmani, CW044 cf. pestai, CW021 cf. axelrodi, Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus (and progeny), Panaque maccus, Panaque nigrolineatus, Synodontis eupterus

The bodylines are running parrallel in CW21 and in axelrodi they are joint af the caudal area, so you fish would be CW21 I guess :)

I was going to suggest that (due to a recent post at Corydorasworld).

If this is true, a few pics in might need to be moved(?)

Hi,

thanks a lot for your help!

If this is true, a few pics in Corydoras axelrodi might need to be moved(?)
Thats what I think, too!
This site looks a bit chaotic to me, because there are some different color patterns.
