Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
Have just been updating some of the husbandry notes for the fish I keep and when reviewing it in my species page, I noticed (even with a 1600x1200 resolution), that the text disappears behind the right hand side info, so the end of the text is lost. I guess even more is lost with the more usual 1024/768 resolution.
Can this text be set to wordwrap?
Thanks
Martin

Re: Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
Actually, looking again, I assume there is a text length limit as I can enter what I like but when saved and displayed it gets cut off. Text wraps ok on a smaller screen but it seems there is a limit. I guess that's fine, but also think maybe the limit could be mentioned?

Re: Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
I have re-written my text so that it is short enough to not be truncated.

Editing existing My Cats SQL error
When editing the entry for my Callichthys callichthys, I got an error saying: - however, I didn't update "my notes", I was "unassigning" it from the tank that it no longer lives in (as it's been gone for some time to fish heaven).

Re: Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
There's a limit of 250 characters at present, but I could make it more or less limitless. What do you think, set a limit or make it super big?

Am happy for a limit, but maybe a bit bigger than 250...say 1,000?Jools wrote:There's a limit of 250 characters at present, but I could make it more or less limitless. What do you think, set a limit or make it super big?

Re: Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
Also, perhaps before "chopping it off", warn the user/give an option of "click back or accept chopped" sort of thing?
I suspect this is a variable sized field, so it takes no more database space if you make it 50, 1000 or 50000 long - just that if it's VERY huge it could cause bandwidth problems if somone happens to fall asleep pressing the 'a' key on the keyboard or some such...

Re: Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
Where are we at on this one?
Seems like relatively easy to fix...
Edit: also merged another seemingly related error report...

Re: Husbandry Notes - long text disappears
Just checked. It's an infinite size field, so should not cause a problem.
I'm calling this one closed. (I also tried a rather enormous field in there, and it worked just fine - obviously, if you try to upload the entire works of Shakespeare in one husbandry note, it may cause problems with the time it takes to upload it, but that' another matter we can't solve easily.
