Is it a Sorubim ?

Post by Sorubima »

Hi everybody,

I would like to know which type of shovelnose it is :

Image

The fish is about 9 cm long.

In my opinion it doesn't quite look like a Sorubim lima... :|
Maybe a Sorubimichthys planiceps ?? Or a juvenile form of Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum ??
It's still a "baby" so it's a bit difficult to ID... :?:

Thanks for help.

Not Sorubimichthys for it lacks the tail pattern that sets that species apart from Pseudoplatystoma. It sits in the latter genus imo, but don't ask me which species.....

it is pseudoplatystoma but too small to tell which species - however it is certain that it is not really a suitable tank occupant unless you have a 12 x 6 x 6 foot tank or bigger!
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!
