Re: Unable To Attach Pic TO Post
500K is a pretty large file nonetheless, can you try resizing it to say around 200-300K and uploading? I think it's more a connectivity issue.

Re: Unable To Attach Pic TO Post
Sorry, yes, but could you tell me exactly how you are attaching the image. We've found in the past there is some misunderstanding on how it works. You have to browse to select it, upload it and then submit the post.
Well, could you tell me what format the image is in specifically or email it to me for testing?
Also, what browser, operating system versions etc you are using so I can try and recreate the error.

I can't see an e-mail link [email envelope] on your post - is that "administrator only can see this" feature, perhaps?Jools wrote:My email address is webmaster at planetcatfish dot com or click the little email envelope icon to the right of this post.

AFAIK, the link should show.
It should be immediately under the location info to the right. I do have the "Users can contact me by e-mail:" option set to yes, but this will only display the link if you are logged in. Were you?

Below is a portion of the screen as I see it. I expect the e-mail is next to the PM and Web-site symbols?Jools wrote: Mats,

Re: Unable To Attach Pic TO Post
After you have uploaded attachment. the screen looks like this (blank screen)
It's not until you click place inline that your pic is shown.
Note that the posted attachment is recognized [ Carameldaria.jpg], then you click place inline or delete.

Re: Unable To Attach Pic TO Post
OK, here is the thing. Shovelnose emailed me the pics. I tried to upload the smallest one (original filesize, 187K) and after the upload finished, the browser screen went blank (all white). There is not a usage issue here, there is a problem with that image file that I was able to witness (happy days, if I can replicate a problem, I can usually fix it).
I had a look at the guts of the forum and the upload is completed but the system was failing to resize and produce a thumbnail for displaying in the post. So, I resized the image (from 1632px × 1224px) to 800 px wide and it works fine. I guess there is not only a file size limit, but perhaps also an image dimensions limit.
I would say however that the forum software should really be a bit better a telling the end user that. A blank white screen is not very helpful. That said, it would appear to be a limitation of our sever in terms of resizing images that is the root cause.
Anyway, problem solved I think, please submit smaller images (and save our disk space)!
