Could I put a S. Brichardi in a planted Tetra tank

Post by Cal »

Title pretty much say's it all.

I grew up raising african's, and alway's had a S. Brichardi. (my favorite fish) I went with salt water for awhile,,then got out of fish for many year's. In the last 2 year's I've set up a 55 gal planted tank for my gf. It's filled with 15 rummy nose, 10 rosbara's, 2 pleco's, 2 smaller clown loach's, and 2 cardinal's.

Would the Brichardi eat any of those fish, beside's maybe the cardinal's. All's that's left for plant's are Anubia's that are quite large and well rooted. They over grew everything in the tank.

What do you guy's think. Would it be all right to add a Brichardi. Thank's.

you could get away with it, it won't eat the other fish

BUT bear in mind that the brichardi likes to meet other brichardi's once in a while -despite being territorial at the same time- and also that it likes a good bit of current.

it's a hardy fish, so it'll do in your tank, but if you really want to keep it at an optimum I suggest a a small group of them and a different set up with rocks, a big pump etc.

also: medium and larger sized Syno's can be disruptive.
once you had this nice planted tank and then you go to sleep
the next day you have something else with all kinds of new species of floating plants.

Hi!!

I have also noted that they do love to go after plants...even Anubias don't last long with them...
Cheers
