best Cory's for hard water

Hi Everyone...

I recently moved house and now have new water chemistry out of the tap....

My cory's are not happy about the hard water and so they are going to a friend who has soft water as I do not have a RO filter....

Any ideas on cory's that are happy in hard water... I am sure that Peppered and bronze would be fine, but looking for something a little different that likes harder water?????

In my experience, most cories are fine in hard water. I know for sure that C. sterbai will be happy in fairly hard water (300+ in TDS).

Hi,

I would choose C. panda for hard water out of those two.
As far as I remember C. guapore originates from very soft water and is not as robust as C. panda.

I would consider the fact that Corydoras panda doesn't prosper very well if the water is above 80*F if that is a factor for you. I find they do best when kept in the lower 70's. I quit rising them because my fish room becomes too warm for them during the summer. I do like them.
The TR C. sterbai have become well adapted to a diverse set of water conditions and are one of the more attractive species so they are one of my favorites. I have raised them in water with a TDS of 340 ppm literally by the 1000's.
C. trilineatus is another one that has become well adapted to diverse water conditions.
C. guapore are sure worth a try since they are attractive and for me to find any, I have to go shopping on the internet.
Over all, choosing by temperature tolerance has been more important than water chemistry for me.

It is interesting to see that you're breeding Lebiasnina.
I am alwys on the look out for representatives of these Characins. I find almost all of them as by catch among various Nannostomus spp. by trolling the LFS for them. It is fun to try breeding fish that are a bit out of the usual. They are an interesting group of fish. Not many Characins provide any level of brood care for their eggs. Piranhas and some of Crenuchidae being among the rare exceptions.
I have bred Copella nattereri, C. nigrofasciata, C. metae and C. or Pyrrhulina cf. rachovia
