Hi there, my friend gave 4 of these dearies to me, but have no idea what they are called... not too sure if they would fight my discus. Can someone advise me?

Yann,

Follow the instructions above and you'll get the image. It's an annoying geocities thing that they employ to deter people uploading images for use on forums.

Looks like the "zebra Syno" that is similar to S. nigriventris but it is really quite hard to tell from the pic.

Could be S. eupterus or even S. aterrimus as well.

Hi, thank you all for your replies.. I think you all have got it pretty close, it looks like one of the Synodontis genus, but then, to be sure we will snap a clearer photo of them tomorrow!

Hi, Graeme, Silurus, Dinyar and DeLBod

Thanks for identifying my fish, the photo of the juvenile of S. eupterus in the catalogue here looks exactly like mine! Magnificant creatures they are.. unfortunately, the tank wasn't intended for catfishes so we only have a piece of driftwood, but not bogwood. Hope to get it into a more suitable habitat!

Driftwood will do nicely in place of bogwood, as long as it's properly cleaned. Shouldn't be a problem.
