Picture Entomocorus benjamini incorrect

Post by Marc van Arc »

Being the proud new owner of 5 I re-read the by now well known article on Entomocorus (Reis & Borges, 2006). Of course I also read the part on , a species I kept some 20 years ago. I had a trio, of which the male was easily recognizable by his extended ventral spines.
Well, forget it. Male E. benjaminis with enlarged ventral spines have never been found so far according to the article. Apparently it's the only Entomocorus species that doesn't "transform".
So I've never kept them. But looking at the picture in the Clog made me pretty sure I did keep that specific species.
I believe the picture of E. benjamini shows a mature male specimen of E. gameroi. You can just see a hint of the black line in the caudal, which makes it the only possible species from all four known species.

Fixed, and I added some of my own work. :-)

Now we need to find a picture of the real species. This might be a good reason to start putting in original line drawings...
