can you tell me how old he/she is?

I think they're young adolescents (10 cms approx.). They are 2 individuals btw. When I bought them I checked them from above (shape) and I hope I have a pair. Bas Pels owns the other 5/6/7 that were imported by AquaFerry.

they do look very nice! i've never seen this species before, it's always R. boehlkei you get in the shops, which is very nice also but this is just a great find!

Well, at AquaFerry they were happy to get rid of them. They had already been there for some time and when both Bas and I were there last October we were offered a 50% discount, which made it a much nicer deal all of a sudden

@ age, the fishes at FerryTales did, I think, not grow at all, but mine didn't grow much either

Therefore my guess is they are adults, and aging adults is quite hard.

As you rightfully guessed, I hardly ever see them - in a 400 cm tank

That fish hardly grow at an LFS is not that surprising, but that they don't in a 400 cms tank is!
Thing is that they are supposed to grow to 30 cms (Clog). FishBase even lists 50 cms TL.....
So when you're saying that yours are still around 10 cms like when you/we bought them, that could imply that they stay much smaller than indicated.
I for sure wouldn't mind
For some reason they remind me of Synos: they are rather elegant and thoughtful swimmers - unlike most Doradids I've kept in the past.

Btw: it's non of my business Bas, but they are not on your "My Cats" list.

The first 3 or 4 months they spend in a 160 * 80 cm tank, and only than I put them into the 400. I could not say how large they are now. The 2 I got later are now in another 160 * 80 cm tank, for a few months.

I compared the sizes when I rehoused them - but did this visually

Rhinodoras are great fish. In my experience kept in a 125 gallon tank with other Doradids they are shyer then the others and much less tolerant of poor water quality.
