Welcome to Planet Catfish :D

Your fish looks a little bit more elongate than i would expect but that may just be the angle of the pic. I would be surprised if it was anything other than B.Coracoideus
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!

Richard,
I got some B.coracoideus at an auction. They were on the "older" side, but I'm not sure how old. A few years later, they've gotten to appx.5"TL. I got younger ones recently, about 2"TL. It's amazing to see the difference in size. I can't wait to see the progression in size. :D

I got two (of which one survived the move to the new tank - a case of "I'd better buy some before they are no longer there" which is always a bad way to get fish - but sometimes we fail in our attempts to always do the right thing) and last time I saw it, it looked pretty much like the pictures here. I haven't seen it for a couple of weeks now, but I'm sure it's still in there - just hiding as per usual.

Hi Amanda,
A 5-inch Banjo would be an old one. I have kept individual specimens as long as 5 years and none of them ever grew more than 4-inches TL.
They grow rapidly in the first 2 years then seem to slow down quite a bit.
