hi! first time forum user!
i was just wondering if anyone canhelp identify which banjo i have? it was stated as a Bunocephalus coracoideus but im not so sure... sorry the pics arent very good, but he only comes out as night and was hidiing under a plant!
sorry about image overload, didnt know which was best view!
thanks, sorry, ive just realised this is in the completely wrong section! my eyes went straigh to south american catfish!
ok, cool, i was wondering, because it looks diffrent to my other one, this other is smaller and has a lot darker brown patterning!
Your fish looks a little bit more elongate than i would expect but that may just be the angle of the pic. I would be surprised if it was anything other than B.Coracoideus
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way. Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy! Lou: It's still a three-way!
Richard,
I got some B.coracoideus at an auction. They were on the "older" side, but I'm not sure how old. A few years later, they've gotten to appx.5"TL. I got younger ones recently, about 2"TL. It's amazing to see the difference in size. I can't wait to see the progression in size.

I got two (of which one survived the move to the new tank - a case of "I'd better buy some before they are no longer there" which is always a bad way to get fish - but sometimes we fail in our attempts to always do the right thing) and last time I saw it, it looked pretty much like the pictures here. I haven't seen it for a couple of weeks now, but I'm sure it's still in there - just hiding as per usual.

Hi Amanda,
A 5-inch Banjo would be an old one. I have kept individual specimens as long as 5 years and none of them ever grew more than 4-inches TL.
They grow rapidly in the first 2 years then seem to slow down quite a bit.
