Our CW08 (Gold-Line Elegans) have spawned.

Post by hoplo »

Hi all,

Our CW08 (Gold-Line Elegans) have spawned. 24-01-09.

The eggs are very small, i thought Bronze eggs was small but these are about half the size.

I have tried to count the eggs and there's about 170.

Here's a picture of some of the eggs.

I only saw a couple of eggs that was no good.

They hatched on 28-1-09 and the fry are very tiny.

Sorry i can not post any pictures of the fry, they are so tiny and my camera can not focus on them.

Andy is going to try and give them newly hatched brine shrimp later today, lets hope they eat a little.

Anyone got any ideas what would be best as first food for them.

Hi Vicky,
Congratulations on spawning your Corys.
I have stopped using microworms as a Corydoras fry food in favor of chilled newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii. Many Corydoras fry are extremely sensitive to pollution and it is always difficult to avoid polluting the water when using microworms. I also keep Cherry shrimp in my Corydoras breeding tanks to help keep any uneaten foods from polluting their water. The shrimp will not harm the eggs or newly hatched larvae. The Chilled brine shrimp collect along the bottom better than non-chilled nauplii so they are more easily found by the larval Corys.

Thank you apistomaster

Now eating

All seem to be doing ok. Very active.

They are now eating newly hatch brine shrimp and are now about the size of a newly hatched Bronze Cory.

Very cute :D
