85f cory?

Hi there,

Firstly I'd like to say hello to everyone since I'm new.

Basically this is my question, I've kept tropicals for a few years now and have recently got my largest tank (400l) and converted to discus, the tank looks great with a big group of blue emperor tetras and 8 mixed discus, the one thing its missing tho is some corys! Are there any species that will do well at about 85F? I have had a look through some cory books at my LFS and I notice the Xingu corys are rated fairly high 29c was the max I think, but these seem to be very uncommon in the UK.

Any suggestions would really be apprectiated.

The only Cory in the Cat-eLog that tolerates 85'F is C. leucomelas, which is listed up to 86'F. C. sterbai are known to tolerate fairly high temperatures, but ideally should be below 82'F.

You can search the Cat-eLog based on temperature in http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/search.php. Select Callichtyidae in the family and Corydoras, then pick a "max" temperature (there is a selection for Fahrenheit or Celsius temperatures), and you will get a list of fish that can cope with that temperature.

This is the list you get for 81'F.

C. sterbai; C. gossei; C. sussei and C. pantanalensis are four that tend to prefer higher temperatures.
