Abyssal fish can see through its head
Hi!!
The article is actually a few month old now...as it was originally published in the volume 4 of the 2008 edition of Copeia...but the news has created some sort of a buzz on the net...
So just wanted to share this with you as I think it hasn't been done yet...
The fish is really amazing...and this is no photoshoped or human creation...100% natural....nature really amaze me...
So if you want to read more about that uncredible fish...
take a look here:

Cheers

Re: Abyssal fish can see through its head
I had to do a double take when I first saw it on the cover...it is amazingThe fish is really amazing...and this is no photoshoped or human creation...100% natural....nature really amaze me...
And then to find out the largest used in the article was only 116 mm SL, and they were caught from 600- 1000 m down, that would be a tough biotope to recreate(bare ,dark and pressured up)...but they did say one was kept in an aquarium for a few hours.

Hey,
yup, truly amazing. Since I've first saw it I just cannot take it out of my head. Whatever I'm doing, I'm still impressed by this fish.

It's cool and gives me the willies all at the same time!
Then again it was NG's TV special on deep water anglerfish that made me love fish to begin with so I'm weird anyway
Slightly OT but on the weird science vein, did you know that Zebra Danios can grow their heart muscles back?? Just found that out. Cool. There's so much out there for us to learn.
Just hope no one crosses that see-through fish with people

Racing, shoes and fish. Nothing else matters. Oh, and bacon.
