loner pepper cory(?)

Post by bruincory »

Hi. Great website and forum. Been keeping tropical fish for years but just recently started caring for cory's after seeing some in a friends tank and 'falling in love' with them. Started a 20 gallon long tank with 2 bronze corys and 3 guppies about 6 mths. ago. 2 mths. in, added 3 pepper corys. The pepper's and bronze's started hanging out immediately and seem to get along well and hang out, play together, eat together. This week, relocated the guppies to another tank and added 6 neon tetras and another pepper cory. After 5 days, the new pepper cory still shies away from the other 5 corys and will go to the opposite side of the tank when the other corys move towards him. Is this 'normal' behavior for the new cory? Do exisiting 'schools' of corys not tolerate newcomers? With 6 neon tetras, 4 pepper corys, 2 bronze corys, any room for maybe 1 or 2 more corys in my 20 gallon long? Thanks so much for any help.
