Mesonauta sp breeding

Post by Marc van Arc »

As I can't put this in the Auchenipteridae thread, here are 2 shots of the Mesonauta pair in the large tank. I doubt that the eggs will still be there tomorrow.......

Congrats! I dont know this cichlids, but they are looking great. I often have this situation with my Anomalochromis thomasi and the Tatia intermedia.

Pls don't say that (bold print), it makes me feel very uncomfortable. Besides, Auchenipteridae are always in the highest possible league
Thanks for the compliment; eggs are still there btw.

amazing!
given the fact that cichlids sleep at night and that there's about 30 or more catfishes prowling that tank....

my fish can't even protect their eggs against catfishes during the day (!), let alone at night.....

I guess when the brains were doled out in Cichlidae, Mesonauta was up front and Paretroplus was hanging out at the bar hitting the piss

Juvies have all vanished by now. Despite (or because of?) that fact I got bitten when trying to reach for the filter inlet, which is in their territory.

Awh shucks - this is a lovely species - "festivums" are so under-rated
