How To Guarantee Cory Spawnings

Post by Coryologist »

It's very easy. Get sick and be flat on your back for 3 days. That's what happened to me. So I have a friend come by to feed my fish. When he's done he tells me that there are 4 tanks with eggs. Wonderful, I think to myself, followed by, Oh, well.

So, yesterday I can't handle it any longer. I have to practically crawl to the basement to see what was going on. So I find the 4 tanks with eggs. Problem is - it was 16 tanks with eggs, which believe it or not, is not a record. I had 18 tanks, one morning a couple of years ago.

So over the past 4 days there were eggs from C089, C120, C133, C150, C. pygmaeus, CW009, CW010, S. prionotus, S. kronei, C. nijsseni, C. aurofrenatus, C. reynoldsi, C. similis and at least one I can't remember. Oh, yeah - A. albater and just a couple C. weitzmani. The rest of their normal 30 eggs probably got eaten. lol.

I don't feel quite so sick, at the moment. Gotta love those Corys. - Frank
I used to be schizophrenic, but we're OK now. At least that's what my dog is always telling me!

So what does your friend do that you don't when feeding the fish?

Of course, it proves the idea that "benign neglect is actually a breeding trick".

He obviously mounts them, when no one is watching.

That is why, to this day, I never say that "I" spawned anything. It's all about the fish. lol. - Frank

I generally have Cory auctions running on Aquabid and will have many more over the next month as I reduce the number of fish I am housing.

I have shipped to Alaska in the past, without incident, but will only offer a "live deliverY guarantee on "next-day" shipments" where the carrier actually delivers the package on the day after it is shipped. USPS "next day" to Alaska does not arrive the next day.

Feel free to PM me, with any questions you may have. - Frank

Well, like most opinionated humanoids, I have my fair-share of both fans and detractors. Of course, I only care what my fans think. My detractors are idiots. What do they know, about anything? lol. - Frank

One thing is certain, though, frank. You are IMO, the best photographer of aquarium fish I've ever seen.

For endlers, the easiest way to assure new fry. . . get rid of half of them.

See Endlers livebearers aren't really fish. They're actually a gas. They will expand to fill the size of whatever container they are in. :)
