Catfishes from Deep Sea World I.D. please

Hello all.
i visited Deep Sea World today and saw some new Catfishes that did not have an I.D. provided for them.
when i saw this Catfish i thought it was far to big to be P.armatulus,it was easily over a foot long,i have posted another pic to try and show it's size next to what i would say is a fully grown Phractocephalus hemioliopterus.




Also i would really like to know what Catfish this is.




i have had a good look around the Cat-elog and really cant be sure what exact spp. they are so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey,

this bigger one is Megalodoras. I'm not an expert so I would say

Megalodoras uranoscopus

but it could be another species.

Smaller one looks like really old, well fed

Platydoras armatulus

to me.

I'd say this is

Megalodoras uranoscopus

. I'd also say the other fish is

Platydoras armatulus

, just an extremely old and well kept specimen. The size in the catelog is based on SL (excluding tail), but it would be useful to have a picture of this fish against a measure to show it's size to allow the record to be updated.

Thank you both very much,it's quite a thought that my P.armatulus could end up that size i had no idea they could get that big.
The Megalodoras uranoscopus is a truly stunning Catfish,i have a few more Catfishes i would like an I.D. for that were in the same pond,as soon as i have re-sized the photos i'll post them.

yes huge catfishes are amazing in look and character but common person just won't be able to keep them.
They just need huuuuuge indoor ponds not aquariums ;) so try to find so much free space in your home to keep single catfish if you can use the same amount of space to keep hundreds of smaller not less interesting catfishes .

Witaj,worton.
i agree the big Cat's are majestic,but just not suitable for home aquaria,i thought i had researched the need's of P.armatulus but i had no idea this Catfish could grow so big,it has really suprised me they can reach this sort of size.
if i have to provide mine with a larger home i will and i'm happy i now have the knowledge and expertise of the member's of this forum available to me to help me with my fishkeeping

though the pictures have been removed, I saw this thread on the blackberry at the fact that they put a RTC in that same tank! I rather buy it out of that tank and keep it for myself before it becomes "snack" one of those days.

I have put the photo's back,i must have accidentally removed them while i was sorting out my albums on photobucket.
it would be a real shame if such a lovely fish was eaten.
