Xingu @ Tesco
So, went to Tescos the other week, did my usual raid on the reduced section for anything to feed my and, low and behold, also passed through the beer aisle. To my surprise I found some beer imported from Brazil, Xingu beer to be precise from the river itself apparently.
So I bought some. I then started laughing to myself when I went through the self serve check-out and looked at the screen. So funny I found it in fact that I took a picture of it on my blackberry and here it is: The even funnier thing was when I got to the car I suddenly realised that here was a guy buying strong beer, a lot of near out of date seafood and laughing to himself while taking a picture of a self serve checkout. However, it was in Bathgate, so I don't think anyone bothered.

As long as you remember to feed the (near out-of-date) seafood to the fish & drink the beer yourself you'll be fine.....the other way around might be problematic!

Brilliant, I will have to keep an eye out next time I pop to the supermarket

Q) Why are dead fish harder to 'wind up' than live fish?
A) Because dead fish never take the bait! ;)

PS : was that beer good at least ?
PS1 : when I was looking for information about Rio Xingu on the net (in 2005, when I was dreaming of my dedicated tank), I found lots of informations about this Xingu Beer... it seems to be a big stuff around there... brewed by a indian community down there in the Para state...

Got your clubcard discount, too! I wouldn't mind the Xingu beer, though. Can you keep L046's in it? Tad more expensive than RO water me thinks.

The beer was really dark but strong in taste and temperament. It's hot weather beer for people who don't have refrigerators.
Actually, Irn Bru would go down a storm in the Amazon I'd think. The local fizz in Peru is a thing called Inca Cola and the two are very similar in terms of being very sweet. Inca Cola is bright yellow and with Irn Bru being bright orange, I think it would go down well.

Re: Xingu @ Tesco
I once bought a cucumber, tub of butter and some latex gloves from Sainsbury's (an odd combination I know-it just worked out that way) and I had to pluck up courage to actually place these three items at the till. The checkout lady didn't seem to comprehend my misplaced shame. I had the receipt in my wallet for months-very amusing.
