I picked up a couple of

Synodontis lucipinnis

from ebay yesterday at 1" for 5.50 each - not bad

Unfortunately my car was "nudged" by an articulated lorry on the way home on the M1 - after (eventually) successfully reporting the incident to the police last night & managing to contact my insurance company this morning, i got cut off when transferring to the underwriter & now the line seems permanantly engaged - what a pain in the ass!

Anyway for some reason i must've not realised how big my other synos are cos these little 'uns look tiny compared to the rest although none of the others have even given them a second look. I have however spotted a few small bristlenoses in the tank which must mean i have a second pair & they are breeding despite the multitude of synos

Further whilst i was getting ready for work one day this week, i heard a tiny noise - i discovered a slightly dry

on the laminated floor - i quickly popped it into the first tank available (B/N breeding tank which has the highest oxygenation of any of the tanks) & it seems to be doing fine. I do note however it is much larger than the 1.6" SL quoted in Cat-e-log, probably double that so i'll have to bring my camera back from work & try & get a pic with a size indicator.

Martin/Mats - if you read this how big are yours?

Sorry to hear about the car - hope it all gets sorted.
Re: Imparfinis - Mats has all mine, though I did note one that was larger than the rest (not by lots, but noticeable), and would say that they were all at least 2"SL, though guess they will have grown some more since being in their new home.
Be interested to see how yours look, colour wise and size.

I wonder whether this one of mine was the odd one i selected when getting the group? It was darker & stayed away from all others in the tank. My problem is i rarely see more than 2 at a time so cannot directly compare them

Not sure how much mine has grown, but yes, they are certainly larger than the Cat-eLog says - at least 2" SL - they are hard to find during daylight hours, but definitely come out during the night, and freeze-dried worms are definitely sought after. I'm not sure where that number comes from - possibly the original description, and they may have caught only juveniles.

Fishbase lists it as 40mm SL, so I suppose that's from the original description.
