Move Epactionotus aky to Hisonotus aky

Post by MatsP »

According to Zootaxa 2113:1-40.

COF lists the Hisonotus as "currently valid".

Before I do that, what is the status of E. yasi?

E. yasi appears to be still valid - COF says so at least, and the paper that moved E. aky didn't say anything about E. yasi (As far as I remember). This may be an oversight/lack of time or no access to E. yasi specimens, rather than that the author believes it still belongs there - I can't say.

Yeah, but if E. yasi was described as such after the E. aky was placed back in Hisonotus then we sit on the fence for a year or two. I am tempted to leave it be for the time being.

E. yasi was described 2004, E. aky was moved to Hisonotus in 2009. However, E. bilineatus is the type species of the genus, and as it's still an Epactionotus and no one's explicitly moved E. yasi (as far as I know), E. yasi should still be considered an Epactionotus.
