Post by Shane »

Looking for some help IDing some of the various sicklids I am coming across. What is the current most knowledgeable sicklid site?

the cich lidroom companion (I alway happen to hit the spacebar typich cich lid on this forum  ) is by far the best site. In fact it is the only serious site about cich lids, in English I know of.

Still, the problem is, you are in territory where not much collecting has been done. I'm sorry to say, the site is on a lower level than planet catfish

This is one of the best allrounders with some serious people logging on and very few muppets .
http://www.cichlidae.com/forum/

Also try www.eacichlid.co.uk but this is mainly CA and S American keepers but there is a good general knowledge base amongst the forum members so could be worth a try.

I have a few different sicklid forums on my favorites, depending on the type of sicklids you want IDing

It's been a long while since I last visited the cichlidae.com site, but yes, if it's still the same as it was when I was active there, it's a good place. And I'm sure Shane is/was a member.

I'll say... after posting I realized that the most recent post before mine was 3 weeks ago.

Well, I think Shane is referring specifically to the "Lake Victoria" section of the forum. Other sections do have posts from today and yesterday in them - Lake Victoria is nowhere near as popular as the two big rift lakes, Tanganyika and Malawi, and the Central and South American sections are also quite popular.

Edit: And I just realized my account still works on that site...

Yes, cichlid is a censored word on this site - you can disable the sensoring in Display Option s in the User Control Panel, and there is a FAQ (under Help!) that explains why Jools thinks it's fun to do this.
