Sync between display images and resize...

Post by MatsP »

I feel that I remember there was a problem like this before, where a new (or not cached) image was not being displayed due to it not having been converted by the time browser saw the image tags. Reload the page and it displays.

I see this sometimes on the "you've just added an image" page, where it sometimes displays the image, and sometimes [usually if the image is large] doesn't display it.

I'm reporting it here, because I think the code for this is "common", and thus it could appear elsewhere too.

I've attached an image...

Next few that you try, with large images, please give the thing up to 30 seconds to create the image. If this is being cached for the first time, the server has to resize the image during the page render. The CPU is throttled to do this slowly so as not to affect overall server performance.

So what you are saying is that "it's not a bug, it's a feature", because it's not actually sync'd? And does this apply to the hover-over images too? Because they seem to sometimes not come up when I expect them - hover again, and it's OK.

I mean hover over CLOG links in posts in the forum (and other similar places where that feature is available, e.g. lists in Cat-eLog, etc)

It's one of those that don't fail all the time - only once in a blue moon... Particularly species that hasn't been viewed for some time - which makes me think it's the caching that causes a problem.

I'd be more inclined to think it's something on the page (data) that's not on others. I can nuke the cache if you'd like to try things?
