does anyone now whats going on with this? i used to have always marineland visi therm stealths in all my tanks and last time i ordered back ups they were diff, but barely slightly so you couldn't even tell on line cept by name. now they are called pro or something. the packaging is slightly diff and it has a thing that says shatter proof which they were prior and they now have a light indicator.
i ask because i had one older model visi therm stealth malfunction (first one to ever do so in the high way, I have him them not heat up properly but never cook out like this) and of all tanks it couldnt be heating a bit much a hypan tank but a bloody goldfish fish tank, I put my hand in there to adjust soem live plants my beasties had up rooted (anachrius) and it was warm. warmer then my hypan tanks by far! I checked the thermometer onside and it wasn't even registering, i put in a real floating one and it read over 90 degrees.
They seemed fine altho i wont be surprised it something bad happens nwo, you cannot go from 74 to over 90 and be fine! I know there tank was fine on tuesday cause i changed water and had my hands in all tanks. so it happened either Tuesday night whiel i was at work or wednesday morning as i slept.
So i dealt with that, slowly yet fastly changing it out and bringing it down.
but my question is from recently people have been asking re where are the visi therms and some pros have been recalled suppsoedly for shattering and malfunctioning.
apparently you cant get the visi therm any more so know i need to put a pro in there and now im nervous. i know goldies do not need heaters per se, cept in winter but i like to have one on in there set to 73 and now i have none in there. i am fine thru summer but in winter the house goes to 68 .
visi therm stealth heaters no more?

Re: visi therm stealth heaters no more?
Goldie should be fine in your house at 68'F - even down to about 60'F (at which point, I'm pretty sure you'll be wanting to turn the heating up). If it's in the same room as heated tanks, it's unlikely to go too cold anyways.
I can't answer what Marineland is doing with their heater range - but most companies will overhaul/replace their entire product range once in a while, simply because they get bored, I think, if no other good reason has been found... ;)
I use the glass version of Visitherm ("Deluxe") heaters, and I'm very happy with them. Lately, they even come with a heater guard as well, which is never a bad thing... Yes, they do break if you drop them - just don't do that... ;)
