Restructure Shane's World.

The Shane's World portion of Planet Catfish has outgrown its current format, and needs to be restructured to make it easier to find the right information.

This thread is for the purpose of discussing the plans [I think...].

Agreed. Maybe an overall top 10 for Shane's World followed by a top 5 for each subsection? Then a drill down as you recommend. I agree with Milton that ordering the breeding articles and species articles as well by family would be helpful.

I will have a go at most popular articles shortly. The sort by taxa thing is hard. I mean, some articles have >1 species, others concern a genus, sub family, family or some other seemingly random grouping. Also, how to sort the geo articles, by continent? Some thought needed...

I will however not be able to do it automatically, so need to add a sort value for the 167 articles... Even if that only took a minute per article, that's going to be three hours solid given a few mistakes and minimal testing. That's also not including the page display change.

I've not addressed the sort order of articles yet (in the new "all" mode).

I think it would make sense to have more than 5 "most popular" or "latest" items listed when you have selected a specific category. Perhaps 8 or 10?

If you click on "popular" instead of showing latest, you get the part 1 (but not part 2) you are looking for.

And I know Jools doesn't really want bug reports yet, but here's an observation that may count as "bug": When viewing "latest", it shows the "why eats what?" article, but not the common title for the series, whereas when viewing "popular" it does show the main title before part 1.

Not really a bug, but I do have a comment. IMO, I'd prefer to see "all" articles as the default, not just most popular. I thought a lot of articles were missing at first, and someone who is new that doesn't necessarily see the small text may think there are only a few articles.

The default is "most recent", actually. Which I think is a good default, but I do agree that it's easy to think that there is little else there...

Well, sorry guys, but the whole point of this restructure was that it was suggested there was too much there... I am reviewing it again now.

OK, have made the number of articles in a section appear in the big heading text as more of an indicator to the content and I have also added numbering and better layout for the popular and recent lists where parts of articles are shown.
