What species is this catfish?

hi everybody :)

I bought a catfish today... but nobody in the store knew what kind it was... SO i hope u can help me with a latin name... I took some pics for ya, but the qual isn't to good...

It's a whiptail of some sort of the genus <I>Hemiloricaria</I> - that's maybe about the best ID your going to get. There should be info on how to keep them etc in the cat-elog but if there isn't let me know and I'll puit some in there.

Thx for the help... i believe it's a Hemiloricaria sp. (2)... didnt remeber to look for info...

There is a little info on Hemiloricaria eigenmanni. Your fish should have similar requirements.

Hi again :)

been talking to some other people... one suggested it could be a illhanero from the Lamontichtys family... now ive been looking at some pics, and some looks like my fish and some don't... is there something bout it, or is he just talking bs?

The fins are too small to be Lamontichthys.

Hi!

I am sure it would have been nice to have a Lamontichthys but your fish clearly show typical body shape of Rineloricaria/Hemiloricaria

Lamontichthys llanero

Hemiloricaria parva

Hemiloricaria eigenanni

At the lookof these 2 pics I would be say that your fish is Hemiloricaria parva, but most Hemiloricaria species found in shop and stock list are sold under that name, and their correct identity is questionnable....
