Breeding at night

Post by rugar »

Hello, I am relatively new to Corydoras cats. and I now have 35 species/varieties of which about half have spawned.I notice that my pandas and weitzmanis start to spawn just before lights are turned off and I was wondering if the continue after dark. Can anyone help?

mine do it all day and night mostly. In between periods of rest.

Seems like every time I peek into the tanks some or other corys are all in a frenzy, 3 males and one plump girl, the girl all laying eggs all over and the males all whiskering around her.

I noticed when I was breeding some wild caught Corydoras panda that they seemed to prefer spawning at night but I don't think they spawned through the night so much as they spawned after their tank light was switched off. They may actually be doing most of their spawning at dusk and dawn.
A large water change of which was softer and cooler was a surefire trigger.
