Corydoras Metae sold as Panda's in LFS

Post by MattP »

Wanted a small shoal of cories for ages but couldn't decide which species. Recently spotted some larger Metae housed with some much smaller pandas but all being sold as the latter. Just wondered if the 2 for £8 I got them for is good value from an LFS for this species?. Looking to start a breeding project in the not to distant future.

It's not bargain of the year, but I paid a bit less than the label on the tank said (because I bought 6 in one go). The label on the tank said £5.95.

I got my group from Wildwoods. I specifically asked the serving lady to get me some small and some large. I have bred them, they aren't terribly hard to breed. Eggs are large, and I just moves the eggs to a fry net in another tank. I didn't get great survival rates, but still ended up with about three times as many after about a year, despite selling a few to my LFS. I'm sure with more effort, I could have got more.

It would be nice to have some success with an easier species and then maybe move on to something a little more challenging. They seem very active little fish and I can't wait to have a go at breeding them.
