yup, but "you're gonna need a bigger boat"
several of these get huge. for example that Giraffenose will reach the size of a fully mature Carp or more.
and keep an eye on that Hemibagrus. or is he in a tank of his own?

(1) oh yeah! even my 2500 gal in the basement will not suffice in ~5 years. I know. Nice choice of words!!! Funny!sidguppy wrote:yup, but "you're gonna need a bigger boat"

(2) I absolutely adore Giraffe cats! they can get to 3' mark but 2' is usual max
(3) Wykii Lopa is on his own, yes. I've read on their rep but he appears to be sweet-natured and shy though - he's spent 0.5 year in 2500 gal with a bunch of others and all he did was hide. Never physical damage on him. Now he is under observation because he never, ever came out to eat in the 2500 gal - I had to dig him up from his hideouts to shove food in his mouth every now and then. He is eating fine in his solo tank. He appears to be highly used to people's hands - even in 2500 gal he'd let me touch and lift him even out of the water

(1) Thanks, Richard, shows you how much I know about what I am doingRichard B wrote:That is one big mix of cats!!! Any chance of some nice close-ups of the synos?

(2) For you, of course yes! Anything! .............Well, within a reason. Give me some time/days.

some nice fish there Viktor, the alberti & nigriventris look nice individuals. Is there a surinam toad in there too?
The giraffe might like a smaller grain substrate so it can more effectively filter feed. There is an immense collection of catfishes there.

Thanx, Richard.
No, the toad and the frogs are in a neighboring 27 gal hex along with two small Hemibagrus wykiis and a Malapterus electricus.Richard B wrote:Is there a surinam toad in there too?
Yeah. They rattle them pebbles around for hours after food is thrown in. I can hear that everywhere in the house, even in the basement. Galaxies help them too.Richard B wrote:The giraffe might like a smaller grain substrate so it can more effectively filter feed.

Yeah, somewhat. I think you are politely conveying a mild concern. People are concerned too, like Adrian (ad8) from Oklahoma and I understand why. The pics are largely misleading. Not all the fish are in the same tank - I have 27, 27, 55, 55, 120, and 150 gal, apart from the 2 ponds. Only two, one of the 55's and the 120 are stocked close to, but still under, an inch of fish per 1 gal. And the pics are taken during feeding when everybody crawls out of their holes to make an appearance of a throng of fish.Richard B wrote:There is an immense collection of catfishes there.
Still, the downside of having a very diverse mix, esp. in 120, is that the administering care to the fishes requiring somewhat different care is a challenge.
It took some time but I got the water to be good steady: NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 0-5 ppm, pH 7.2. It's been like that for over 8 months with a weekly 50% water change. The fish are behaving more or less right and growing well. I do have to reshuffle every few months, of course.

Richard, do you think the ocellifer and soloni are genuine?
