how many corys are suitable for a 60litre tank?

Post by hague1982 »

i've just bought my son a superfish aqua 60 aquarium the tank sizes are as follows 470x330x330(to maximum water level). I know how you all take fish keeping seriously and wanted to make sure i would be doing the right thing by researching the fish my son wanted and making sure there compatable for his tank.

So here we go how many corydoras would i be able to house in a aquarium this size and what substrate would they prefer, yes i know there are going to be the sponge bob ornaments such as the pineapple house easter island house and a few figures but other than that they'll be afew plants and a few rocks etc (I personally don't agree with ornanments like this in a aquarium but hey he's a kid).

In my 60 litre tank, i've kept up to 6 bronze cory's and they seemed to do fine.

but it all depends on what fish and size. if you were to say to get pygmy cory's i would say around 8 is good.

but the magic number i say is 6

a good starter cory is the bronze cory or the peppermint cory or even sterbais
these are the too most commonly found in the trade

been reading up on panda corys and decided they wouldn't go with the other fish as they require a lowe temp so i thought why not go for the corydoras leucomelas as they prefer a high temp also might go for rummynose tetras with them as well what you think?

it's all up to personal choice from here
most corydoras are very sturdy fish. how high is the temp? i dont think it would be much of a problem if the temp was anything higher than 27'C

most fish will do well at 25'C
