oak wood?

Post by general-sherman »

i was wondering if oak wood is suitable for aquariums. i'm setting up a south american biotope and south american wood is in short supply here  i have used OAK leaves before and found them to be safe. they did lower the ph but that isn't a problem.
thanks

Should be OK as long as the wood is properly dried.

Oak, Beech and Ash can all be added to an aquarium provided the wood is dry.

The bark contains alot of tannins and should be removed (but doesn't HAVE to.).
