Clown pleco or not?

Post by flyinmike »

When I got this fellow he was a 1.5" Candy-stripe (according to LFS I don't go to very often). It didn't take long to realize that he wasn't a candy stripe. He is now 3" and I believe him to be a Panaque maccus clown pleco (I use panaque instead of panaqulos due to the on-going debate over those names).

Is that a correct ID and what is the L-number? I didn't see one listed under P. maccus.

Pic not available. Can you host it somewhere else?

BTW, L104/L162/LDA22 are all P. maccus.

Does it look like this?

I think this is an LDA-22, the place where I bought it just called this a "clown pleco."

Good luck. :D

Cory411, that is not P maccus (or LDA22), it's Zonancistrus (or Dekeyseria) pulcher (L168).

Mike, your fish are amazing and the tank(what I could see of it) looks great. Do you have pictures of the tank posted on that site as well?
