Not a Schilbe

Post by Silurus »

Following on from Birger's Schilbe ID thread, the first photo in is not that of a Schilbe, but a blunt-nosed Eutropiichthys (probably E. britzi).

How certain are you about the E. britzi ID? What I'm trying to say is that should we just archive the picture, or should we add a E. britzi species?

I'd be inclined to use E. sp(1) as opposed to straight archive?

That's another option of course.

No reason why we cannot add it as E. britzi. The ID would be as accurate as the Schilbe intermedius I gave for Birger's photo (meaning that there would always be an element of uncertainty because of inability to examine internal characters such as gill rakers).
