Help ID these Pseudas

Hi all,

I have 5 of these guys. Trying to figure out which L-number they are. L97 ? L452 ? L320 ?

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

or a very dark variety of L65 ?

I had a pair of the same animals a few years ago... They had several spawnings (7-8 times in 3 years) until this f.... male killed his female ! But I raised around 350 of these to 6 to 8 cm to sell them in my area and in France and in Germany...

We hadn't been able to ID them properly... the challenge was between "dark L65", "small L320" or even a "Pseudacanthicus sp Alenquer"... You can find some informations on the topic "Black Pseuda, a breeding tale"

I guess a few pictures have disapeared or are even wrong... but I can find the old pictures and repost them if you want to...

Could you post some more pictures of your pair?
I gave this guy to a friend of mine but I was convinced it was an L186, though he is out of the water on the picture he has an spectacular brownish coloration inside the water.

and a last one, of Mr Dad, very mad when I picked up his 8th spawning... Normally, he was very dark, with very light clear spots which you could hardly see... but with the destress in this drum, he was much clearer than "real" :

Thanks Tofi. I recalled reading it last year. I'll have another read on the article again.

There have been 2 "a breeding tale" topics. One on the "black" pseuda and the other "Pseuda scarlet, another breeding tale" on L25

on both topics, pictures are lost and wrong... there has been a mess with the original location hosting machine... I still have every picture... but it would take hours to upload them again and to correct the topic

the "black Pseuda" female was quite small indeed (around 15 cm no idea about the US system translation, sorry)... but the male was around 25 cm TL... And as we never knew what specie it really was

The Scarlet began to spawn at 35 cm TL for the female and 42 cm TL for the male...

I'm sure it could have been earlier... size has nothing to do with maturity, don't you think so ?

Your female was 14 inches and the male was 16.8-17 inches. They are pretty large already although they may seem to be small in the picture.

I have added some pictures of what I believe to be a pair of L282. I could not see my differences on the head but noticed that the pectoral fin is much closer to the pelvic fin and obviously the much larger size on the male and the rounded body on the female.

I will say he maybe has 2 females in that group.
