Hover for larger view
How hard would it be to have a 'hover for larger view' for the pics on the species 'landing page' in the cat-e-log?

We are in the process of refurbishing the Cat-eLog pages. The pictures will be displayed differently, with a "click" or "hover" type enlarge it.RickE wrote:How hard would it be to have a 'hover for larger view' for the pics on the species 'landing page' in the cat-e-log?
This is not something that will happen very soon, but it's in the plans. I'm sure we could update just the picture viewing, but I don't really see the point in, essentially, wasting time when eventually, the code for displaying images on the Cat-eLog datasheets will be completely diferent.
Unfortunately, neither Jools, nor I, have enough time to do everything very quickly, as we have day-jobs to pay for our esssentials in life (and a few fish, aquariums, filters, and "non-essentials"). Until recently, Jools has done ALL the work on the site programming. Now he's allowed me to get to to the code, and make changes. This should speed things up a bit, but I'm still learning how the things hang together and what goes where, etc. And finally, Jools is the only one that can actually change the REAL site, so any changes will have to be uploaded by Jools, when he's got time.
But you should see new things appearing - the first notbale change is one most users can't see, but it helps in species updates, because we can add information on a genus, e.g. instead of adding "Likes to have sand" on every species of Corydoras, we can add it to an entry for the Corydoras genus, and it turns up in every Cory species data sheet that doesn't have anything else in that field.
You'll see some minor changes turning up in a few places - for example, when you list the keepers of a species, you can see how many fish they are keeping directly, rather than having to go into each user's list of species to figure out if they are keeping 1, 2, 5 or 15 of a species - likewise on the Cat-eLog datasheet, with the same number. Also, if someone has registered multiple times for the same species, you get a p: X next to the name, indicating the number of populations (this is in place now!), rather than the name listed multiple times. These are small, cosmetic changes (and it's taken several days to do just those simple changes!)

OK Mats, thanks. Will look forward to seeing the new pages when they are ready. The amount of work that is done behind the scenes is very much appreciated.
