Trachelyichthys Exilis eggs

Post by wrasse »

I was giving fish an afternoon feed today when I noticed a large egg lying on the sand. It must be around 4mm diameter. Then I found 2 more, again on the sand.

The pair of T. Exilis share their tank with 4 green lazer corys, 3 C. Napoensis - includes a very ripe female, and 2 Amaralia.

The eggs are too huge for any cory and the amaralia are not (I think...) ready for reproduction. So they must be Exilis eggs. I've put them in a net tank within the parent tank, so we'll see...

These fish aren't easy to get pics, but here's what I took today. The male was showing a lot of interest in the female...

I'm afraid I don't have photos of the eggs at this point.

They might not be eggs but just discarded "internal egg storage devices". This is a woodcat thing. Short on time, will have speaks at the convention.
